If you have been anywhere in the vicinity of Washington Avenue and Depot Street in La Grande in the past year or so, you could not miss the unveiling of the old brickwork and windows of what used to be the Elks Club building. The current owners of the building, Jeanne and David Williamson, chose La Grande and this particular building as the new location of their company, Evermine Labels. They have great plans for the building—not only for their business, but for other ventures as well. The first of these, The Press Room, a book shop featuring the works of local authors along with a coffee shop with food offerings, has been open for a bit and has become a popular downtown destination. The front of the building facing Washington has been remodeled, converting the elevated driveway into a large flat open-air patio with a retaining wall and access to The Press Room. This transformation was financed in part with a $200,000 grant from the Oregon Heritage Fund facilitated by La Grande Main Street Downtown in May of 2023..
Evermine Labels began at a New Year’s Eve party in 1999 with a chat among friends wondering about the possibility of home crafters and cooks obtaining personalized labels for their homemade and handcrafted creations. With Jeanne’s design skills and David’s web-programming knowledge, Evermine Labels began. Five months later, after much work and many all-nighters, they built a website that would allow crafters to obtain personalized labels, stickers, and other products that were professional looking and creatively presented. It did not take long for word to get out among party planners about Evermine’s gorgeous labels and rapid turnaround times. This made special occasions a staple of their business.
Evermine’s mission is best expressed by Jeanne and David:
“The mission of Evermine is to make our little part of the world a wonderful place to be. And, for those whose lives touch ours to help make their world more wonderful as well. Those people include our customers, employees, the neighborhood, our city of La Grande, the world, and the children of the future. Our special talent is making and selling the best short-run personalized printed products in the world, and we do I the very best way we can, and we keep doing it better all of the time—for you, for us, and for the present and future world.”
Evermine is the leading source for home crafters, businesses, and party planners to obtain top-quality sheet and roll labels for all products and occasions, as well as hang tags, bookplates, bottle hangers, and coasters in small and large quantities. The website allows you to easily design your labels and use either your own artwork or choose from a selection of designs provided. Evermine not only provides some of the most creative and beautiful labels around, but also has the best turnaround time in the business.
Evermine’s goals are threefold, focusing on their goals for themselves, their customers, and the present and future worlds. For the business itself, Evermine will continue to provide its customers with creative and beautiful products in a timely manner, while fostering a holistic work environment for its team members. For their customers, Evermine will help them celebrate all of the important and rewarding parts of their lives and will also share the resources for them to do it themselves. On a larger stage, the Williamsons see themselves as stewards of the earth and their community and will work daily toward contributing toward the betterment of each.
With their generous and holistic approach to business and their community, Evermine and the Williamsons have already made a lasting mark on La Grande, and it will be exciting to witness the evolution and growth of both Evermine and our community going forward.
