The first thing you notice when you walk into the charming brick and mortar of our newest Partner, Flying Cloud Gifts, is the incredible array of wonderful gifts and keepsakes spanning a wide range of interests and enthusiasms. Then the aura of quiet joy washes over you. Owners Rocky and Amberlee welcome every customer with warmth and have curated their merchandise to reflect that warmth and joy.
A second-generation family-owned business, Flying Cloud Gifts started out as a Christmas tree farm outside of Astoria, Oregon almost 30 years ago. That year, the family converted a horse stable into a gift shop. The next year, they established their online retail presence. At first, they sold Christmas wreaths and other handmade goods, but over the years, this evolved into offering all manner of gifts. A little over three years ago, Flying Cloud Gifts moved to a familiar storefront in La Grande. After extensive renovations of the building on the corner of Washington and 4th for the last few years, Rocky and Amberlee have been open for business at the Washington and 4th location for a year now where you can browse and check all of the lovely offerings in person. They still have an active internet presence, and you can order their delightful offerings online with impeccable care taken in the shipping process. Follow them on Facebook for their newest delights and check out their website at: https://www.flyingcloudgifts.com.
The mission of Flying Cloud Gifts, Rocky said, was “to build long-term relationships with the community and be involved in the community.” Rocky and Amberlee have dived into this by participating in local community organizations and events. They will be participating enthusiastically in the upcoming Crazy Days Celebration hosted by La Grande Main Street Downtown with a big sale.
Flying Cloud Gifts has an amazing array of lovely offerings for everyone on your gift list (and for you too). There is everything from Christmas ornaments to Longbottom Coffee and Steven Smith teas, as well as stationery, journals, bird houses, and Mary Lynn Thompson and Pumpernickel Press products. A highlight of their myriad selections is the photography of Amberlee turned into beautiful cards.
The big news on the Flying Cloud front is their plans to expand this fall into the back half of their building. Rocky and Amberlee want to grow deeper roots in the community and be a bigger part of the local economy. However, first and foremost, they want to keep listening to their customers and bring in merchandise that the customers want.
With their dedication and enthusiasm for both their business and the community of La Grande, Rocky and Amberlee are welcome additions to Downtown La Grande and are sure to enhance the ambiance and warmth of Lovely La Grande!
