Maridell Center Revitalization

Breathing New Life into Maridell Center: La Grande Main Street Secures Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant

In a triumphant stride towards preserving and enhancing our historic downtown, La Grande Main Street proudly announces its success in securing the prestigious Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant for 2023. This remarkable achievement marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to the revitalization and preservation of the Maridell Center, a cherished landmark in the heart of La Grande.

Constructed in the early 1900s, the Maridell Center has long stood as a symbol of La Grande's rich history and vibrant community spirit. As a testament to its enduring significance, the center has been an integral part of our cityscape, serving as a hub for cultural events, community gatherings, and local commerce for decades.

La Grande Main Street, as the proud facilitator of the Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant, continues its mission to spearhead transformative projects that breathe new life into our downtown. The grant, administered by Oregon Heritage, a division of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, is a testament to our collective dedication to preserving our city's heritage while fostering economic revitalization.

This year's grant of $200,000 will propel the Maridell Center Revitalization Project forward, ushering in a new era for this historic venue. The funds will be strategically allocated to address crucial aspects of the center's restoration, including facade enhancements, structural improvements, and the integration of modern amenities to ensure its continued relevance and functionality.

Taylor Scroggins, Executive Director for La Grande Main Street Downtown, expresses enthusiasm for the project: "The Maridell Center holds a special place in the hearts of La Grande residents, and we are thrilled to embark on this transformative journey. The Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant empowers us to honor the past while creating a dynamic space that meets the evolving needs of our community."
